Delhi Capitals were one of two teams who had to endure the sudden blackout and evacuation in Dharamsala, which was followed by the week-long suspension of the 2025 IPL season which ended with the washed out game between RCB and KKR on Saturday. While the players may or may not carry mental scars from their experience that night, the team definitely carries a competitive scar with ace fast bowler Mitchell Starc not returning to India for the rest of the season. Gujarat Titans, on the other hand, could be without Jos Buttler in playoffs but the former England batter will be available for the match against DC, which is all they need to worry about for now.
DC have been famously shaky and the fact that they are still in the race for the playoffs is entirely down to the incredible run of form they went on early in the season. The high-flying GT will be another handful for them to deal with, especially with Starc not being there to potentially neutralise their almighty top three of captain Shubman Gill, Sai Sudharsan and Buttler.

DC will probably have to fill Starc’s empty spot with Mohit Sharma or Mukesh Kumar, with the latter likely being their preferred option. They have signed Mustafizur Rahman but the Bangladesh pacer will join the team only Sunday morning. Any other changes apart from that seems highly unlikely. GT, meanwhile, would probably not make any changes at at all but they would be hoping that their middle order comes to the party before Buttler’s departure leaves them exposed. GT need just one more win to confirm a playoff spot for themselves, DC would be best served if they win all of the three games they have remaining.
