A Delhi-bound Air India bound flight from Hong Kong returned to its airport of origin on Monday.

The flight departed from Hong Kong at 12.16 pm (local time) and was scheduled to land in Delhi at 12.20 pm IST.

This comes days after another Air India Boeing Dreamliner headed to London Gatwick from Ahmedabad crashed near the airport minutes after takeoff. 241 passengers including two pilots and 10 cabin crew members, and several others on the ground were killed in the tragic air accident.

The reason for the unscheduled return is yet to be ascertained.

The flight has landed safely in Hong Kong, all passengers have disembarked and the aircraft is undergoing inspection, news agency PTI cited sources as saying.
