IPL 2025, PBKS vs DC Updates: The Indian Premier League (IPL 2025) game between the Punjab Kings and the Delhi Capitals was abandoned after 10.1 overs in the first innings. While official broadcasters said that the game was called off after a “significant technical failure at the HPCA Stadium”, IPL Chairman Arun Dhumal told news agency IANS that the PBKS vs DC match was “called off as a precautionary measure, based on the red alert issued in Jammu”. After the PBKS vs DC game was abandoned, fans, players and officials were evacuated out of the HPCA Stadium. The evacuation of players from the HPCA stadium was done so quickly that “many of the players reached the hotel with their pads still on”, write Devendra Pandey and Venkata Krishna B in their report for The Indian Express.
Before the stoppage, Punjab Kings had raced away to 122/1 in 10.1 overs, thanks to Punjab opener Priyansh Arya, who scored a swashbuckling 70 off 34 balls, and Prabhsimran Singh (who was unbeaten on 50 when the game was halted). The game had started late after rain at Dharamsala had delayed the toss. When the toss did happen, Punjab Kings got their way in the coin toss and opted to bat first.

PBKS were chasing victory in the game against Delhi knowing that a win could make them the first team to confirm top four playoff spot. Both teams has been around since the inception of the IPL, 18 years ago — albeit with different names — but have never won the title. If that has to change this season, the first step would be to secure a spot in the IPL playoffs.
